Selected date

Monday September 25

Selected time

5:00 PM  –  7:00 PM

This small group kayak tour of the unique landscape of the tidal Schuylkill River will be led by environmental artist and educator Joanne Douglas. The tour will educate paddlers on the tides, river health, plants, animals, history and the fossil fuel industries of this ‘hidden’ section of the river, downstream from Bartram’s Garden towards the confluence with the Delaware. Kayaks, paddles, and lifejackets will be provided. This is a flat and calm stretch of river, so all skill levels welcome! Expect moderate physical exertion.

Dress in clothes that will keep you warm even if they get wet; avoid cotton—wool, silk, and synthetic materials are best. Bright water to drink and a small snack. Arrive on time. Participants must register in advance and sign the liability waiver.

Registration Information:

  • All participants must complete a waiver at this link.
  • Registration will reserve you a spot(s) on the tour. All participants will pay a cash fee when they arrive – $5 for Bartram’s Garden Members, $15 for non-members.
